Tenaris, Hydril

Assignment: Create the first contemporary 3D look within Hydril for their Premium Connections line.

Challenge: The technology at the time for using CAD models was limited and all of the profiles for the “pin” and “box” connections only existed as mechanical drawings. Utilizing emerging technologies, the drawings were converted to 3D models and adjustments had to be made for designed manufacturing tolerances.

Results: When all was said and done Hydril had a new catalog of all of their Premium Connections for use in print and digital media. This included complete connections as well as up close renderings of key product features. When Tenaris purchased Hydril for their Premium Connection line the catalog was expanded to include all of Tenaris’ connections. In total there were 80 illustrations for 25 unique pipe and casing connections.
